The results of both measurements allow
- calculation of elastic constants (Young's Modulus and Poisson Ratio)
of the surface material through
(with Rho: Density; Cp, Cs: P, S-wave velocity)
- operation of CASSE as a phased array  for detection
of structures in the underground (boulders, cavities)
- determination of the thickness of the surface layer (regolith)
Estimation of grain size by measuring the transmitter impedance
and the frequency dependend attenuation

and function control
Dust impact detection during descent phase
